Mission and History

GroundWork group drives social impact by uniting innovative technology with business expertise to serve communities in need. GWg is a nonprofit organization with a history of investing into social enterprises, developing new social innovation models and providing sustainable IT solutions to other nonprofit organizations. GroundWork group applications have been used to raise over $45 million in just the last 3 years alone. We continue to serve our nonprofit community through education and technology expertise.

2018

Continued to refine nonprofit education services be providing customized Microsoft Office Training courses to roughly 100 APSI employees across the state. Learn more about our training offerings.

Held a Supercar for Charity car raffle highlighting the most technologically advanced supercar on the road, the Acura NSX. Thank you Acura Columbus and all of our sponsors for your support!

2017

Introduced Hardware as a Service, a low-cost way to provide all-new IT equipment to nonprofits by distributing the cost over a three-year period. Prior to HaaS, many of our nonprofit members were unable to afford the high upfront cost of purchasing all new equipment. Learn more about the service here.

2016

Began providing Data Analytics and Data Visualization services to help nonprofits extract value from their data and communicate their impact to compel stakeholders. Learn More.

2015

Board Development Program 10th Anniversary. 

Board adopts new strategic vision to grow social impact through strategic partnerships.

2013

Enters into joint social enterprise development of ds-connex with the Wells Foundation and a new fundraising platform, Stride.

2012

Focus shift from Member conference to workshops, enlisted tech experts to provide instruction. 

2010

GWg achieved goal of social enterprise self-sustainability, ending FY 2010 having covered 99% of all expenses with earned revenue.

GWg published The Impact of Technology on Nonprofit Organizational Effectiveness Report to the Central Ohio community. 

GWg 5th Annual Central Ohio Nonprofit IT Conference. 43 sponsors show their support for the value GWg provides to the community. 

2009

Announced our first Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Platform.

Refined the GWg Continuum of Maturity

2008

GWg flagship offering GWg services went live with it’s first customer. 

GWg surpasses 100 nonprofit members. 

2007

Launched Nonprofit IT Forum to host monthly luncheon of nonprofit IT professionals. 

2006

Groundwork group was founded and hired first employee.

Designed and launched “IT in a Box”, a cloud-based solution for nonprofits. 

2004

Launch Pilot Programs

We launched 13 pilot projects to test affordable IT services for nonprofit organizations.
